I don’t think I’m very good at it. But that’s what I’m being asked to do.
Tim did make a good point today though when I was complaining to him. Since Friday morning, we’ve managed to have a Teladoc appointment, get him in as a new patient with a PCP, obtain a referral, and have a number of tests done.
At the moment we still don’t have any answers, and I guess that’s what I’m not good at – doing all the things and still being asked to wait.
I had some good words about trust come to me yesterday. Now I can’t recall them exactly… but maybe that’s actually what I’m being asked to do.

Ultimately all art is a light stretching from the past in an attempt to illuminate our present. And sometimes returning to an old source of illumination can spark something in our souls.

The Danger of Being a Sermon Critic
I shared a post in a similar vein a little while ago, but it's definitely something worth revisiting in another voice. What's your Sunday morning posture? "There is good to be had from any sermon when it has been preached by one of God’s servants."
You Could Be Faithful with Your Frailty
Such a helpful read. "You could be faithful with your frailty. I could be. And it wouldn’t be born of innate strength or evidenced by a brave face. It would be utter dependence on Jesus. It would be both tears of grief and eternal hope. It would be sorrowful yet rejoicing. It only makes sense because Jesus is faithful with our frailty. He will waste no sorrows."
Finally, A Piece About Singleness
Drew writes well about struggling with singleness. "For years I’ve been kicking myself for not being 'joyful' about my singleness. UUUUUUGH. JOYFUL. Such a gross word when applied to something you really don’t want. Like forcing a smile during a stomach bug."
When Gathering With God's People Hurts
Courtney has some good words about the church. "Gathering with God’s people, ones you can trust and who can pray and sing over you when you can’t utter words, is God’s means of fighting back the darkness in your life—in my life. Why? Because the day is drawing near. And every time we gather we’re reminded that the end of all of this brokenness is coming."
Who Did Jesus Die For?
Great explanation in favor of limited atonement, including one of my favorite arguments from John Owen. "Why are not all free from the punishment of all their sins? You will say, ‘Because of their unbelief; they will not believe.’ But this unbelief, is it a sin, or not? If not, why would they be punished for it? If it be, then Christ underwent the punishment due to it, or not. If so, then why must that hinder them more than their other sins for which he died from partaking of the fruit of his death? If he did not, then did he not die for all their sins? Let them choose which part they will."

in my ears
Great episode.
“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble."
